Launching a Podcast

I’ve decided to get into the podcasting world.

I’m creating a podcast show called “Around the Shawnee.” It will feature 1-2 episodes a month focusing on businesses, events, and organizations in and around the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. I’ll even feature people who are heavily involved in it.

I’ll post 1-hour long episodes that are voice-only for the first season.

I’m keeping it voice only because I want to make something you can listen to while commuting, at the gym, or anywhere else. That’s how I listen to podcasts. I don’t want to have to sit down and watch a video.

I’ll be using my RODE clip on mics. They’re wireless and very nice. I’m looking forward to starting this show.

I think it will be very beneficial for Southern Illinois.

I’m always looking for people to interview. It’s free for them. I’ll meet them where they want to meet. They get to promote their things for free, too.

I’ll link to the podcast on all my social media pages and newsletter and upload it to my hiking YouTube channel. They get my traffic which is over 2.5 million views a month.

The only thing I’ll charge for is episode sponsors. I’ll look for that a bit later after we get going.
